Cricket is getting more and more entertaining day by day. We see new rules being implemented in various leagues and matches to make the game more interesting. Above all the new rules, there’s a relatively new format for entertaining all of us and that’s T10.
T10 format refers to a ten-over format where both teams get only 10 overs to bat. One can say that it is a smaller version of T20s. The first competition using this format took place in December 2017, the opening season of the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates.
England’s ODI and T20I skipper Eoin Morgan talked about using the format at the Olympics as well. We may very well see T10 in international cricket soon. If that were to happen, which teams would dominate that format?
In the article, we shall be taking a look at 5 international teams that can do well in T10 format:
1) West Indies
Not adding West Indies (WI) to this list would be a crime. WI are arguably the greatest T20I side of all time and it won’t be surprising if they dominate this format as well. One can never underestimate Caribbean muscle irrespective of the format.
WI batsmen are tailor-made for this format and can slog their way through the 10 overs of the game. Their opening combination consisting of the Universe Boss Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis is a perfect pair to open in a T10 match. Besides, their middle-order consists of players such as Kieron Pollard, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell.
Even if one of them is in good nick, it would ensure that West Indies score a minimum of 50 runs in five overs. The others can manage the remaining five overs and WI are rest assured to get to a good total even if they have a batting collapse. They even have bowlers who can bowl slower deliveries and get wickets as well.
