“Records are meant to be broken” is quite a famous quote and is one that provides inspiration to people when they are in need of it. However, while it is good to be optimistic and think that any record can be broken, there are some that just seem out of reach.

In 13 years of the Indian Premier League (IPL), several stunning records have been set and all those record-breaking performances also entertained us to the fullest. Some of these achievements are also all-time records in the 20-over format, which increases their significance.

However, some of these records are virtually impossible to break on paper and here, we shall have a look at 5 such records:

1. Virat Kohli’s 4 centuries in one season

Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman in the world and quite obviously has a lot of records to his name. Some of them could prove to be unbreakable while others could be broken in the future.

His record of 4 centuries in just one season would fall under the unbreakable category and if someone does break that, it would be quite phenomenal. Scoring even one century in a season is quite a difficult task and the fact that he did it four times, shows how good he was that year.

In 2016, Kohli scored 973 runs in 16 games at a staggering average of 81.08 and was striking at 152.03. In addition to his four centuries, he also scored 7 half-centuries and it is without doubt, the greatest individual season in IPL history. Even if the centuries of all the other batsmen are combined, it would still be lesser than Kohli’s tally that season, and there aren’t enough words to describe how sensational he was in 2016.
