Wasim Akram is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time. ‘The king of Swing’ had the ability to go through the defences of any batsman at his will and had the prowess to trouble the batsman, both off the pitch and the air. The left-arm speedster is also considered as one of the founders and undoubtedly the finest exponent of reverse swing bowling.

Wasim Akram is also the first cricketer to achieve 500 wickets in the 50-overs format and at the time of his retirement was Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in both Tests and ODI cricket. Pakistan has produced a lot of quality fast bowlers since Wasim’s retirement but none of them has been able to replicate or match the impact of the great Wasim Akram.

In today’s time when reverse swing is slowly becoming a forgetful art, the game of cricket needs another Wasim Akram to reinvent one of the most dangerous and destructive form of swing bowling.
