2. India defeated Australia in 2019 three-match ODI series after losing first match

India toured Australia for four Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is in 2018-2019. India had to taste a defeat in the first One Day international and after that, the other two encounters were do-or-die for India, but they showed their caliber and ended up winning the series with 2-1 as skipper Kohli became the first and till date the only Indian captain to win an ODI series in Australia.
Australia won the toss and opted to bat first in the first ODI and put up 288 runs on the board, but India only scored 254 in 50 overs with Rohit Sharma scoring 133 off 129 balls in and lost the match by 34 runs.
After losing the first match, India had to win the other two games to win the series. Australia won the toss and batted first in the second ODI and gave India a target of 299 runs. They started their innings and won the game in the last over with another brilliant hundred from the skipper himself, he scored 104 off 112 balls and India won the game by 6 wickets.
In the final ODI, India won the toss and elected to field. Australia came to bat first and got bowled out for 230 featuring 6-42 from Yuzvendra Chahal. India chased down the target in the last over with a gutsy innings from the vintage MS Dhoni, he scored an unbeaten 87 from 114 balls and India won the game as well as the series by seven wickets.
