India is scheduled to play a T20I, ODI and Test series versus England, which starts from the first week of July. However, Virat Kohli’s, their skipper, a chance of participation has come under the clouds as he has been reported to have been suffering from a slipped disc injury. The Indian skipper has also been ruled out for his upcoming county stint with Surrey.

The mishap sparked following the IPL and the Men in Blue would be hoping for his speedy recovery. However, they also need to keep ready a pool of players who can replace Virat if he can’t make the cut for the England series. Here are the names of some consistent performers who can be drafted into the playing eleven in the absence of Kohli.

Suryakumar Yadav played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and turned out to be a massive success for them at the top of the order. He scored 512 runs and remained in contention for the leading run-scorer in the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) for the chunk of the league stage. The 27-year old cricketer had also shown impressive form in the domestic tournament, playing for Mumbai.

With 364 runs in seven matches, he was Mumbai’s second-highest run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Maharashtra-born batsman also notched 217 runs in eight contests at an average of 54.25 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. Moreover, he scored the runs at a strike-rate of nearly 190, which manifests the potential of the individual.
