1. D’Arcy Short

A sensation of the Big Bash League, D’Arcy Short’s sudden success isn’t hidden from anyone. The lad who had first made his way into the domestic arena back in 2011, has gotten an enormous amount of fame for his heroics while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

In the 7th edition of the BBL, Short scored a total of 572 runs in 11 innings, including a scintillating 122 against Brisbane Heat. The following season saw him flaying attacks around the part for another time as he went on to become the top-scorer, with 637 runs in his kitty.

Howbeit, the tables turned when the 29-year-old donned the colors of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. The franchise had brought him for a hefty amount of 4 crores but Short could unfortunately not prove his worth as he was able to score only 115 runs in the 7 games he played in IPL 2018. The Aussie cricketer turned out to be a major upset as he couldn’t reciprocate the faith shown on him after his brilliant performances in other leagues around the globe.

2. Tymal Mills

Tymal Mills’ career has been no less than a roller-coaster ride. After earning lots of fame because of his variations, the Yorkshire-born was expected to be the next big thing of the cricketing fraternity. The Indian tour in 2016 added another feather to his rising career.

Mills, a month later, was brought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping amount of 12 crores. He was also the second-highest-paid cricketer of the season. Nonetheless, the doohickeys didn’t go as per the expectations as the the 27-year-old turned out to be a bit failure.

He got an opportunity in just 5 games and turned out to be very expensive for the team. In the 5 games he played, the seamer could strike only 5 wickets and bowled at a poor economy of around 9. Although Mills has a fine record in other leagues like PSL, he hasn’t been able to prove his worth in the IPL.

3. Colin Ingram

Colin Ingram’s name first rose to fame after his decent run in the Champions Trophy 2010. Since then, the Southpaw’s name has been making headlines because of his success in domestic cricket after signing the Kolpak deal.

After achieving positive results in the English domestic circuit, the 34-year-old tried his luck in the T20 leagues like the PSL, BBL & MSL. He is one of the stalwarts of the PSL and has a fine record in the BBL as well. However, one tournament, wherein, Ingram’s fortunes haven’t been with him is the Indian Premier League.

Back in 2018, he was brought by the Delhi Capitals in the player auctions and went on to play 12 matches for the team. But the South African could score a minimal amount of 205 runs at a below par average of 17.08.

4. Darren Sammy

Darren Sammy has been one of the biggest disappointments of the Indian Premier League. Despite having a decent career in T20s, the Carribean cricketer hasn’t been able to make a mark in the cash-rich IPL. Sammy was first signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad back in 2013 and was named their captain the following year.

Going further he was brought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the veteran cricketer has played just 20 games in all these seasons combined and could score only 295 runs. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Sammy’s record in the Pakistan Super League is blistering.

He has been one of the amulets of the Peshawar Zalmi. Under his leadership, the team has made three final appearances, winning one of them. He has also been given a Pakistan citizenship for his loyalty with the side and the league. Hence, there’s no doubt about it that Sammy has better records in the PSL when compared to the IPL.

Rilee Rossouw rose to fame after his brilliant run in the U19 World Cup in 2008. He was expected to be the next big thing of the World Cricket and soon got a chance to play in the then-active Champions League T20.

This, in turn, earned him a contract with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, wherein, he got an opportunity to share the dressing room with the likes of AB De Villiers, Virat Kohli & Chris Gayle. But, regardless of how, as a matter of fact, Rossouw got a chance to play in just 5 IPL games.

Nevertheless, in the process, the South African player also played for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, wherein, he has been able to make a mark and is currently the 8th highest run-scorer of the tourney. Rossouw has also had a successful stint with the Rangpur Riders in BPL in 2018 and went on to become the highest run getter of the side with 558 runs in 14 matches.
