Sometimes numbers don’t justify the evaluability of a cricketer and the prime example is Chris Green’s career. The Australian cricketer is one of the finest white-ball talents going around the world. Especially in the last two years, the off-spinner has been a regular name in various T20 leagues. Till now he has played 75 T20s in which he has bagged 62 wickets.

At first, those numbers might not seem monumental but his contributions have been as important as the star players of his side. It’s his economy rate of 6.72 which makes him the box-office in this format. That too by bowling in the powerplays which is considered one of the most difficult times for a spinner to operate. Even in CPL 2019, his economy rate of 6.44 was one of the reasons why Guyana Amazan Warriors looked invincibles.

Green has been effective with his craft and his track record suggests the same. That’s why the Kolkata franchise should bag him in the 2020 IPL auctions as he can help them solve their new-ball problems. Right now the team is overly dependent on Sunil Narine’s exploits so they need an experienced campaigner like Chris to compliment him. By including the off-spinner in the playing XI, Narine can attack in the middle-overs which is not possible in the presence of Piyush Chawla.
