Gowtham possesses a skill that is becoming increasingly rare in Indian cricket. He is an all-rounder who bowls off-spin. Because of his off-spin ability, he has consistently fetched high bids in auctions. In IPL 2020, he was traded to Punjab Kings from Rajasthan Royals, and in IPL 2021, he was purchased by CSK for Rs 9.25 crores. This amount made him the most expensive domestic uncapped player in the history of IPL.

In T20 cricket, Gowtham is a very good bowler. With field restrictions, he has the ability to bowl in the powerplay and stifle the opposition’s run flow. As his statistics indicate, he has a 7.39 economy rate in T20 cricket and a four-wicket haul to his name.

Gowtham is a sturdy and powerful finisher in the death overs. He mostly bats at 7/8 and hits the ball hard in the death overs. He has a diverse arsenal of shots that he employs in the death. This justifies his high price and makes him a valuable commodity for teams to have in the mega auction.
