Andrew Tye’s performance in the Big Bash League 2014-15 for Perth Scorchers caught the eyes of IPL franchises. The pacer impressed everyone by scalping 14 wickets in 10 games at an average of 18.35. This helped him fetch a bid of 20 lakhs from the franchise.

However, he was injured before the team’s opening game against the Delhi Daredevils. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the whole season and released next time around. He was then picked up by now-defunct Gujarat Lions, where he established himself as a pro-player.

Since then, he has been a death-over specialist in the T20 cricket. Though he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular in Australia’s national squad, he has done well in domestic and franchise cricket. He was the purple-cap holder in IPL 2018.
