Heading into the Qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup, Rashid Khan had to take up the captaincy role for the initial stages of the game. Thus, at the age of 19 years and 165 days, Rashid made his captaincy debut by leading his team against Scotland in an ODI.

He thus became the first teenage captain in Men’s International cricket. Rashid is also the youngest player in International (Men/Women) to captain his team. He led the country for the first time when he was the No.1 ranked ODI bowler which he claimed only a few days before becoming the captain.

It was the first time Rashid got to the No.1 spot in the ICC Rankings at the age of 19 years and 152 days only. Thus, he became the first-ever player in the ICC Men’s cricket rankings to become No.1 in any category and any format before turning 21.
