One of the most shocking and surprising releases this year has to be that of Chris Lynn. He has been an integral part of the franchise for several years now and often provided the team with some destructive starts. It isn’t that the Brisbane cricketer has performed all that badly for the franchise that they were left with no other choice.

In the last two seasons, he has scored in excess of 400 runs and has been amongst the leading scorers for KKR. He even smashed four half-centuries in IPL 2019. However, it is the price which that franchise pays for him that made them take this decision even in this case.

When Lynn’s name came out during the auction, he invited an absolute bidding war. Five teams bid for the Australia opener and KKR seemed adamant about having him back. They spent INR 9.60 crores for him, which they might have felt was a little too high. Thus, they released him – probably in the hope of getting him back at a cheaper price.
