The IPL Auction for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league will take place on 19th December 2019 and all the franchises will look to fill the gaps in their squad ahead of the 13th IPL tournament. The eight teams had declared their respective retention lists a few days ago and Royal Challengers Bangalore had made the headlines by releasing the most players (12).

Among the players released by the Bangalore-based franchise, there were a few domestic stars along with a host of overseas names. The RCB franchise has had a history of committing blunders during the pre-auction period. They had kept Sarfaraz Khan as one of their three main players ahead of IPL 2018 however, his poor performances meant that the team soon released the youngster. On the other side, they had let go of KL Rahul who became a bigger star after joining Kings XI Punjab.

So, in this article, we will look at the 5 released players by RCB who can be useful for the other teams in IPL 2020.

1. Marcus Stoinis – CSK or KXIP

RCB had gained the services of the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in the previous year’s trade window. Stoinis played 10 matches for Virat Kohli’s side, scoring 211 runs at an average of 52.75. He had a strike rate of 135.25 while his highest score was 46*.

With the ball, the 30-year-old right-arm medium pacer had taken two wickets at an economy rate of 8.70. While these numbers are good, Mike Hesson had said that RCB released Stoinis because of his heavy price tag.

Now that the Aussie is back in the auction pool, he will be a hot commodity and it is unlikely that RCB would go after him. Hence, he will find a new home this year with Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings being the two most apt franchises for him.
