The left-arm fast bowler from Jamaica Cottrell had been bought by Kings XI Punjab for over 8.5 crores in the previous year’s auction. However, he didn’t play up to his potential. In the six matches in which he featured, he took six wickets only, before Kings XI replaced him with other overseas options in order to have a balance in the XI.

His economy was almost close 9 and he wasn’t delivering for the Punjab franchise as they would have liked. So, when they announced that he will be released for this year’s auction, there weren’t too many people who were surprised.

Since the end of last year’s IPL, he hasn’t shown much of his class which had helped him to get the 8.5 crore INR deal with Kings XI Punjab. There are high chances that he will be going unsold this time. Getting a foreign fast-bowler, with low returns will not be on the minds of any of the franchise heads.
