Virat Kohli is a giant in the world of cricket. In fact, he is the biggest name in the sport, be it on the field or off the field. The man has an average of 50+ in all three formats and already has 70 international centuries, at just 31 years of age.

Some time ago, there was another man. You might have heard his name somewhere. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar it was. For more than two decades, he butchered bowlers and hammered oppositions. He is the holder of some of the biggest records in cricketing history, such as the highest run-scorer in test matches, highest run-scorer in ODI matches, the list goes on.

Times change and so do the standards of the game. Virat Kohli, in this era, is at the very peak of the pyramid and continues to set new standards. But there are some records by Sachin Tendulkar which King Kohli will find unbreakable.

Let’s take a look at 5 of them:

1. Number of ODI matches played

465 matches. Yep, that’s the number of One-day internationals Sachin Tendulkar played in his career. After having made his debut at a tender age of 16 and playing the format for more than 22 years, he finally rested at 465 matches.

Even Sanath Jayasuriya, who played for nearly 22 years, could reach only up to 445 matches. For Virat Kohli, this seems too far away. If there’s one Sachin Tendulkar record which is most likely to remain unbreakable, this is it.

Kohli celebrated his 31st birthday last November and has played a total of 248 matches till now, after more than 11 years of his debut. Considering that he hasn’t missed many matches during this time, even if he plays the game for another 7-8 years, Sachin’s record will stand tall.
