Mohammad Ashraful used to be Bangladesh’s standout performer during his playing days. But nowadays, he is nowhere near to a place in the national squad, the reason being the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

There he admitted to spot-fixing during a game between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Vikings. The country’s cricket board then suspended him immediately. Ashraful was alleged to have gotten $12,800 to lose a game, but as per the local media, the cheque he was given had bounced.

In 2014, BCB banned him for eight years, which was reduced to five years. In 2016, he came back to domestic cricket and then became eligible to play international cricket in 2018. Even after the layoff, Ashraful hasn’t lost hopes of a comeback at the age of 35.
