The Indian Premier League (IPL) which is the best T20 competition in the world has invariably been an alluring event for players from all around the world and has always enjoyed the appearances of the elites playing the game.

The competition during its initial days was well known to uphold the presence of the greats who have ruled the game and till now continues to relish the availability and involvement of the modern-day legends.

However, sometimes in this overpowering arrangement, there have been instances when a quarrel between a player and an IPL franchise has eventually caused a huge ordeal wherein it’s the player who mostly had faced the maximum heat by being at the receiver’s end.

Over the years, even the most accomplished envoys of the game have undergone some kind of derision coming from these IPL teams and have yet merrily preferred to continue playing the IPL.

Keeping in mind the IPL’s rich flourishing history, here are 5 occurrences when players were disrespected by IPL teams

1. David Warner’s omission from the playing XI after losing his captaincy (IPL 2021)

David Warner, who has often been SRH’s biggest aggregator of runs since IPL 2016 was recently handed a red card by the SRH management both for his captaincy and for his appearance in the playing XI. The SRH team under Warner’s captaincy had lost five out of their first six games and were highly grappling to choose their best four overseas player slots.

Now as per the statements coming from the SRH’s think tank, Warner’s omission both as captain and as a batter was mainly pursued to fetch a right team balance in the playing XI, as SRH was seen struggling with its middle-order batting. Also with players like Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow already brimming with their overall rich form, it was David Warner who had to sacrifice his slot in the playing XI.

Despite scoring two half-centuries scores along with an average of over 30, Warner was eventually enforced for a prolonged omission even if the new team combination doesn’t fetch the desired results. However, for the fans and many cricket pundits, Warner’s omission seemed to be a little perplexing, as the opening partnership of his and Jonny Bairstow had produced some solid starts at the top for the team.

All in all, regardless of Warner’s omission sounding logical, many fans were seen sympathizing with David Warner and found his sacking as utterly disrespectful. With Warner also being the biggest match-winner for the franchise since 2016, the entire matter became the bitterest pill to swallow inside the SRH camp.
