There has been a lot of buzz around ECB’s new tournament and format, The Hundred. The draft took place recently and teams chose players instead of bidding for them. Thus, in the end, each of the eight teams has 15-member squads. However, 12 of them are local players and only three overseas players were allowed in one squad.

Thus, while most of the big names were picked, there were some huge names that didn’t attract any team. The likes of Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Kagiso Rabada, Dwayne Bravo and many more were overlooked. However, these players are a part of the IPL teams.

There are certain players who don’t have IPL contracts either. But they have been doing well and hence, stand a chance of getting picked in the IPL auctions this year. Thus, here are five players who were unsold in The Hundred draft but can get good bids in the IPL 2020 auctions.

If there is one Australian player who has come a long way in 2019, it has to be Alex Carey. He made his international debut in a T20 in early 2018. However, a few months later, he replaced Tim Paine in the ODI team as well and hasn’t looked back since. But it hasn’t been all rosy for the left-hander.

Carey has never had a fixed batting position in the Australian line-up. He has floated around constantly which hasn’t helped. Hence, he didn’t have a lot to show with the bat. But he was very impressive in the World Cup. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 375 runs at an average of 62.50 and had a strike-rate of 104.17.

The Australian stumper backed this up with a good season in the T20 Blast. Playing for Sussex, Carey amassed 264 runs at an average of 37.71 and a strike-rate of 152.60. Hence, it was pretty surprising when he found no buyers in The Hundred. But Carey may well have attracted a few IPL franchises with the way he’s played. He can bat anywhere in the order and be very effective as well. Hence, he can attract good bids in the upcoming auctions.
