If an individual gets addressed in the same phrase as Don Bradman then he must be a special cricketer. Yes the Bradmanesque, Steve Smith is one of them who seems on a mission to create his own batting legacy. He has repeatedly headlined the front pages for his run-scoring abilities. Currently, his Test average rests at 65 which gives an idea of his dominance in world cricket.

Smith had his share of struggles in the initial phase of his career as he couldn’t weave his magic as the premier spinner of the Kangaroos. Thereafter he worked on his batting skills and since then he hasn’t looked back. Now even in the IPL, he is considered one of the batting mainstays of the Rajasthan team. He has also led them efficiently in a couple of seasons.

However very few know that Smith has also marshaled the Pune Warriors team in a one-off game. In the 2012 IPL the regular skipper, Sourav Ganguly rested himself after the team’s 6 consecutive losses. So Smith was given the role for a change. Though the team didn’t win the game Steve showed the required composure under pressure at a very young age, a quality associated with a good skipper.
