The left-handed opener from Sri Lanka Danushka Gunathilaka announced his retirement from Test cricket in January 2022. He didn’t attain much success in the red-ball format and decided to call time to prolong his white-ball career.

The 31-year-old cricketer made his Test debut against India in 2017 at Galle. However, he didn’t get much success in the longest format of the game. Gunathilaka played only eight Test matches and scored 299 runs with a decent average of 18.68, including two half-centuries.

Meanwhile, he has had a relatively decent career in the limited-overs format. The Sri Lankan has scored over 2000 runs in 80 white-ball matches, including 13 half-centuries and two hundred. He was part of Sri Lanka’s last T20 assignment against India.
