India is heading towards the historic 500th Test match and the former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra took a moment to select the all-time Test XI. He took on the micro-blogging site twitter to pick his eleven.

Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar and the aggressive opener Virender Sehwag, who is known to be the one who revolutionized the way Test cricket was perceived, will start the proceedings with the bat for his side.

Rahul Dravid – The wall of Indian cricket is in next, who is as solid as any in the cricket field and whose temperament is second to none. “If somehow you go through Sunny G-Sehwag, you’d hit a Wall. Rahul ‘consistent’ Dravid has to be the undisputed #3,” wrote Chopra.

Legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar is at his iconic no.4 followed by VVS Laxman. “The bridge between top and lower order is critical…and therefore needed a special player at #5. My vote for VVS. #500th Test,” opinions the 39-year old.

There would be much surprises considering the one who will take the gloves. Yes, he has gone for MS Dhoni, the current India’s limited-overs skipper. Kapil Dev, the best all-rounder India have ever produced is in at next followed by the spin duo of legendary Anil Kumble and the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

He himself has pointed out that the selected of Ashwin might be a controversial one as he is still making inroads into his career. But considering the kind of success he had thus far, he justifies to be in the XI. The left-arm pace of experienced campaigner Zaheer Khan and the right-arm pace of Javagal Srinath ends the eleven.

Aakash Chopra’s all time Indian Test XI squad: Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath
