The ongoing Australia tour of South Africa promises to be a heated contest. The Proteas are a formidable outfit in their own backyard. And, the Aussies boast of a near perfect record on the South African soil in Test cricket. Well, the setup is ideal for a historic showdown. Veteran Proteas batsman AB de Villiers certainly thinks so. While the on field action is certainly going to be action filled and power-packed, the off field drama is not grabbing any fewer eyeballs either.

In the ongoing first Test of the four match series in Durban, the visitors have their noses ahead by a big mile. They are just one wicket away from going 1-0 up in the series. However, on the penultimate day’s play, there was a brief while when the South African team seemed to be in complete control of the proceedings. After having lost four wickets with less than 50 runs on the board, in the run chase of 417, South African innings looked in tatters.

More importantly, their star batsman AB de Villiers had perished for a golden duck in the big chase. The fifth wicket went down soon after with Theunis de Bruyn heading back to the pavilion. Amidst this backdrop, opener Aiden Markram and wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock stitched a marathon partnership to spring hopes of the home fans.

Markram perished after scoring a magnificent 143 and de Kock is still battling it out with an unbeaten fifty. During the course of the day’s play, in the break time, the players headed to the dressing room. A video footage surfaced the media that showed Australian vice-captain David Warner involved in a heated exchange with Quinton de Kock.

Certainly, the players looked all fired up. The Cricket Australia (CA) has promised to investigate the matter. But for now, people are having their say. Among the lot is AB de Villiers. AB, in a comment made on the video, remarked that this series is indeed going to be very special. He is expecting a lot of such banters on the field.

Here is what AB de Villiers tweeted in response to the video:

“This series will be one to remember,” he tweeted.
