Young Afghanistan leggie Rashid Khan has had a tremendous rise in his cricket career in the last couple of years. Rising from an associate nation, Rashid has proved that hardwork can beat anything. He recently escalated to the top of the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings. On his achievement, the Twitterverse showered praises on him. Among the many was former legendary cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

Adam Gilchrist had a cheeky little message to share with the Afghanistani bowling sensation. Gilchrist congratulated the youngster on becoming the youngest to scale to the top of the ICC rankings. Rashid Khan managed to bag the top spot in the ICC rankings after being 7092 days old. He became the youngest to reach the summit beating former Pakistani cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq, who had claimed his top spot during his playing days as a 7683 days old cricketer.

Legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is next in line as he had bagged the top spot in the batsmen’s rankings being 7878 days old. Certainly, Rashid’s rise to the top has been meteoric. Gilchrist in his tweet, used a good reference asking if the lad is feeling ‘on top of the world’. Well, like literally!

Here is what Adam Gilchrist had to say to Rashid Khan:

“Huge congrats @rashidkhan_19 Top of the World eh!,” Adam Gilchrist wrote in his tweet.

The success of Rashid Khan is not confined to only international cricket. The youngster was among the first two Afghanistani cricketers to have bagged an IPL contract. He was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auctions last year.

Also, he has been retained by the franchise this year and SRH shelled big bucks to get him back on the roster. Meanwhile, he was also a big success in the Big Bash League this season. It was his debut in the league and he had turned up for the Adelaide Strikers. He ended up as the leading wicket taker in the tournament.
