"Both sides have to compromise to reach an agreement. The normal way of negotiation is to give and take. That is what will be required," said Adam Gilchrist.

Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist wants the ongoing tussle between the Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australian cricketers to end soon. Much like everyone else, Gilchrist believes that the sooner the conflict ends, the better it would be for the Australian cricket. As per the quotes in the Hindustan Times, the former cricketer recently spoke at length about the issue.
He reckons that there is no way that either of the two parties will concede to the demands of the other. Hence, they need to figure out an option that works well for both the parties. They have to compromise to some extent at some stage or the other. Adam Gilchrist noted that the CA has been taking care of the cricketers for past 20 years. He feels that there is certainly a lack of understanding between the two parties that is causing rifts.
“Both sides have to compromise to reach an agreement. The normal way of negotiation is to give and take. That is what will be required,” said Adam Gilchrist.
CA has taken care of its players a lot in the past 20 years since the last MoU was signed. Perhaps they have not articulated exactly why they need a change in the structure. It seems that players are not convinced. Both the Players’ association and the administration hope it does not drag on. I think they will be working tirelessly to have that resolved,” he added further.
Heart of the matter
The heart of the matter is in reference to the payment issues. The CA wishes to scrap the revenue sharing method of making payments to the players. The players, on the other hand, want the existing revenue models to continue. CA Chief, James Sutherland, had threatened the players to accept the new MoU or lose out on their central contracts. Things have been on a sour note since then.
Team vice captain David Warner had even hinted at boycotting the Ashes and the India series in October if the demands of the players are not met.
