Afghanistan team began their journey in the longest format of the game as they faced India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. But it was a forgettable outing for them as they learnt that the Test cricket is a completely different ball game. Meanwhile, they have been enjoying their time during their stay in the country as they faced Bangladesh and the hosts. However, some of the players in the team opened up on their favourite food.

Afghanistan cricketers have a decent fan-following in India and especially Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi are loved by many as they feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the recently concluded historic Test match, even the Indian fans cheered for the visitors as they picked a few quick wickets to stranglehold the middle-order of the home side.

What kind of food do they love?

In a candid interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Mohammad Nabi revealed that he likes Hyderabadi Biryani despite the fact that they are mostly on diet. He also reasoned that being in Hyderabad frequently has increased his love for Biryani. The skipper Asghar Stanikzai likes Barbecue Fish while interestingly, the youngster Rahmat Shah likes the taste of a cooked Bitter Gourd.

Mohammad Shahzad though was once again at his best when he was asked the same question. He stressed that he can eat anything which has been offered to him but he likes mostly rice as Kabuli Pulao is famous in Afghanistan.

“We eat everything that is offered to us. But we also have to follow the diet as suggested by the team management even if we don’t want to. I like to eat rice or Biryani as Afghanistan is famous for the rice dishes like Kabuli Pulao,” he said. Zahir Khan, the 19-year-old fast bowler of the team though has a liking towards Chicken Biryani which they get in India.
