Talented youngster Aiden Markram is all set to lead the South Africa Invitation XI as they face Bangladesh in a three-day tour match. The match is slated to be played at Willowmoore Park from 21st to 23rd of September. He also captained the South Africa A team in their series against India A.

While the South African national team is yet to taste the success of a World Cup, Markram already has, having led the Proteas to the U19 World Cup triumph in 2014. He was also a part of the Test squad that recently toured England though he didn’t get a chance to make his debut.

He was picked by the Nelson Mandela Bay Stars for the first season of the T20 Global League. At the age of just 22, the youngster has already scaled heights consistently as he was even named the Domestic Newcomer Of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards.

On the selection of the squad

The convenor of Cricket South Africa’s National Selection Panel said, “We have chosen a squad consisting largely of CSA Academy players balanced by a few franchise players to provide the necessary experience.”

After having been replaced by Ottis Gibson as the head coach of the South African team recently, Russell Domingo is all geared up to don a new role as the coach of the South African ‘A’ team.
