The England opener Alex Hales is set to make a comeback to his national team after injuring his hand in the 2nd One Day International (ODI) against the Indians earlier in January this year, thereby missing the rest of the series.
England Head coach Paul Farbrace confirmed that the right-hander has fully recovered from injury and is now available for selection.
“Halesy has now been passed fit by the medics, and he’s practised well over the last few days, so he’s officially in the squad now for Thursday’s game which is good news,” Farbrace told BBC’s Test Match Special.
“That’s down the to the selectors in terms of picking the team for that match,” added Farbrace. “We’ve got 16 people fit and available for Thursday. We always knew that Hales would join us. Even if he wasn’t available to play, we were always going to bring him here so we had him as part of the group.”
England have already won the three-match ODI series as they lead 2-0 going into their final match of the tour on 9th March at Barbados, where they would love to have a clean sweep over the Windies.
Hales who has had a good start to his international career as he is averaging 36 and striking at 94 runs per 100 balls in 40 matches, he has played for his team. His highest score is 171 against Pakistan, which is also England’s highest individual score in limited over cricket (ODIs).
The Worcestershire player had a great 2016 as he averaged almost 62 from 14 matches. He is likely to replace Sam Billings (averaging 29.87 in 9 innings), who has not had the best of starts to his career.
