Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi tested positive for Coronavirus last week. The news was revealed by the man himself on his official Twitter handle and had requested everyone to pray for his speedy recovery. Rather a couple of days ago, he came live spoke about his health and other things. Even the entire cricketing fraternity wished the cricketer for his well being and hoped that he recovers soon.

However, ever since the news has broke out, several rumours are being spread stating that Shahid Afridi’s health is deteriorating with every passing day. And the 40-year-old himself has quashed all the reports now and has slammed social media for the same. Afridi admitted that he is getting a lot of calls and messages from his well wishers during this tough time and asserted that he is recovering from the disease well.

“Allah sub ko social media say bachai. I don’t know how such rumours spread. I’m getting hundreds of calls and messages from concerned well-wishers from all over the world. To all of them my message is that I’m recovering from Covid-19 and am already looking forward to returning to my social work,” he was quoted as saying by The News.

Shahid Afridi sad for not being able to help needy people

Shahid Afridi, throughout the pandemic, has been helping the needy people of Pakistan through his foundation. Rather he also went on to say earlier that he knew that he will be contracted with the virus as he was travelling a lot to help people. But now he is disappointed that he hasn’t been able to assist the poor and is hoping to regain full fitness soon.

“Apart from the pain and inconvenience it caused me, the worst thing about the (Covid-19) infection is that it has halted my role in the campaign to help my needy countrymen in these tough times. That’s why I’m hoping to regaining my strength and returning to the social work,” Afridi further said.

Talking about how his health deteriorated, Shahid Afridi told that he suddenly got fever one day and was not able to breathe properly as well. But he has taken enough care to recover and is slowly but surely regaining his strength.

“It happened suddenly. One day I was fine and the next I was really down. I had fever. My head hurt. I had difficulty breathing. I couldn’t sleep. There was no body pain but it seemed there was no strength left in it. But thankfully a combination of rest, steam and ginger tea has helped me get better. Insha-Allah, I’ll be back in action soon,” he added.
