Andhra opening batter Vamshhi Krrishna etched his name in record books as he smacked six sixes against Railways in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy at YS Raja Reddy ACP Cricket Stadium in Kadapa. Krishna clobbered six consecutive sixes against wrist spinner Damandeep Singh making him the fourth Indian batter to achieve the feat.
He joined the elite club of Ravi Shastri, Yuvraj Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad who have emulated the feat in the past. Krrishna went on to score 110 off 64 balls with the help of nine fours and ten sixes. The right-handed batter was the highest run scorer of the innings as Andhra went on to score 378 in their first innings.
Krrishna put his wide array of strokes on display as he smacked the wrist spinner to all parts of the ground. He slog-swept the first ball over deep square leg and smacked the second ball over the bowler’s head to get the second maximum. The explosive opener smacked the next four deliveries all on the on side and completed a historic feat.

Notably, legendary West Indies all-rounder Sir Garfield Sobers was the first ever player in cricket history to smack six consecutive sixes in an over. He achieved the feat playing for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan’s Malcolm Nash in the County Championship in 1968.
Ravi Shastri was the first Indian to achieve the feat
India all rounder Ravi Shastri was the first Indian batter to achieve the unique feat playing for Mumbai against Baroda in the 1985-86 Ranji Trophy season. At the international level, it was South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs who became the first player to smack six consecutive sixes in an over against Netherlands’ Daan van Bunge during the ODI World Cup 2007.
India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh became the second player and first and only Indian to do so at the international level during the 2007 T20 World Cup against England’s Stuart Broad. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad ended up hitting seven sixes during the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy game between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. West Indies’ Kieron Pollard and USA’s Jaskaran Malhotra are the only other batters to achieve the feat at the international level.
