The Monkeygate incident that took place in Sydney in 2008 is regarded as one of the ugliest chapters in cricketing history. A decade later, the topic is again hitting the floors with Andrew Symonds making a mention of something new in a recent interview. It has again become a subject of discussion on social media.

Symonds recently surprised everyone by saying that Harbhajan Singh apologized to him and broke down at the same time when the duo shared the dressing room for the Mumbai Indians (MI) during the IPL.

In an interview, Symonds stated, “Harbhajan went on to apologize me, my family and friends for causing any harm. And he actually broke down crying, and I could just see that was a huge weight off his shoulders, he had to get rid of it. We shook hands and I gave him a hug and said: ‘Mate, it’s all good. It’s dealt with’.”

Bhajji refutes claims in a tweet

Harbhajan Singh who found the story floating on social media immediately refuted the claims. He questioned the authenticity of any such incident. He went on to term Symonds a ‘fiction writer’ and also asked the Australian cricketer to move on from the same. The off-spinner was certainly not entertained which was clear in his tone.

“I thought he was a very good cricketer but Symonds has turned out to be a good fiction writer sold a story then (2008) and he is ‘selling a story’ now (2018). Mate, the world has come of age in these 10 years and it’s time you also grew up,” the Turbanatormentioned in his tweet.

Ever since playing for the same team in the IPL, they have appeared in a number of shows together. Hence, many felt that the incident had been burned down. However, ten years later it has come back to haunt again.
