Anil Kumble will forever be remembered as the most successful bowler in Indian cricket history and one of the very best in the world. With a heart of a lion and the fight of a mongoose, Kumble was a bowler who never backed down from the toughest of challenges. 9th of August marks the day when the valiant warrior made his Test debut against England at Manchester in the year of 1990. Kumble took 3 wickets in the match, all of which came in the first inning. Since, then we have seen his career graph reach a mammoth height and the rest as they say is history.

The main story:

An Anil Kumble fan page on Twitter shared the moment today on 9th of August, 2017, 27 years after Kumble made his debut as a Test cricketer. It had a picture of the iconic bowler from the match and had a line paired with it. Anil Kumble was hit by nostalgia as he saw the picture and shared it from his own Twitter handle thanking the page. Kumble thanked the page for taking him back to his younger days. He also mentioned that he is grateful to his fans for all the love and support he has received from them over the years.

Sharing the tweet, Kumble wrote “Thank you for bringing back the memories and for the constant love and support.”

Kumble established himself as a Test giant picking up a staggering 619 wickets from 132 Test matches in his career. The bowler also did the unthinkable when he picked up 10 wickets in an innings in Pakistan in the year of 1999 and is the only bowler to do so at the international level. As far as the 50 over format is concerned, Kumble has 337 wickets under his belt from 271 matches. He is the third highest wicket taker in the history of Test cricket after the wizard Muttiah Muralitharan and the maestro Shane Warne. However, unlike these two Kumble was not a great spinner of the ball but his delivery always had a kick of pace. Kumble was the most dangerous on a wearing surface with many batting greats admitting to the fact that playing Kumble on a cracked surface was the toughest task ever.
