After a thumping 4-0 win in the Ashes, the Australian side had run into England’s barmy army at a pub in Hobart. The loyal and passionate group of England fans have been travelling around the world to show their love for the game and their nation. However, the England barmy army did not have much to celebrate as their side was thrashed to all corners and they will now be looking forward to the next Ashes to put up a good fight.

Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja had posted videos on social media of the Australian side and the England barmy army sitting on opposite sides. Alex Carey, David Warner, and chief selector George Bailey were all sitting in the pub with a beer in their hand while the Barmy army boldly started singing God save the queen. The move did surprise the hosts to an extent but they knew what they would get from the true-hearted group.

Smith’s post ensured that there was peace between the groups as they were in a singalong to Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline. Nathan Lyon was seen in the video holding the Ashes trophy while another video posted by Smith showed the fans and the Australian side engaging together by singing. Smith will be enlightened by the Ashes victory but the hero of the 2018 tour might not be pleased with his own performance in the recent Ashes. He has shown signs of inconsistency for the first time in his international career and he has to come out of the rough patch.

“Sweet Caroline with the@englandsbarmyarmy #banter,” Smith captioned in the post

Pat Cummins had proved to be an excellent captain in the Ashes 2022 and it has to be noted that he got most of the boxes ticked on his Test captaincy debut. His bowling standards were of the highest quality as he finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series. England could manage just one draw in the series in the Sydney Test while losing four of the remaining games.
