Pakistan were thumped by India in the group stage by eight wickets only a few days ago and they will be itching to pull one back on them in the Super Four encounter on Sunday. A thrilling win over Afghanistan has rejuvenated the Men in Green and they will enter the contest with confidence in Dubai. Sunday’s game matters the most as a win for either of the teams will seal their place in the final. Meanwhile, Saeed Ajmal has suggested his team to play two spinners in this marquee clash and surprise India.

Mohammad Nawaz played his first game of the tournament against Afghanistan and returned with the figures of 3/57 in his ten overs. He featured in the match only because Shadab Khan failed the fitness test after picking up a groin injury against India a few days ago. There is every chance that the leggie will be back in the team and Nawaz will have to make way for him it seems.

There is nothing for fast bowlers

Pakistan have entered the Asia Cup with only a couple of spinners in the squad which is surprising as the conditions in the United Arab Emirates always assist the tweakers more. Their fast bowlers have struggled to pick wickets so far in last three games which is why Saeed Ajmal wants them to play with two spinners against India.

“If you keep bowling at the same pace on these wickets, you are bound to be taken to the cleaners. The team needs to have more than 1 spinner. If you look at both India and Afghanistan, they are playing 3 spinners each and I feel that is what the track and conditions demand. Pakistan must also go the same direction,” he said while speaking to Hindustan Times.

Sarfraz Ahmed has some selection issues ahead of an all-important clash and it will be interesting to see if he is forced to drop one of the seamers to accommodate Shadab Khan in the playing XI.
