Asia Cup 2018 set to be a treat for the viewers with a star-studded commentary line-up

The 2018 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to get underway on September 15. Five Test-playing nations along with Hong Kong, who recently qualified for the main draw, defeating the hosts in a thriller of the final in Kuala Lumpur.  UAE couldn’t hold their nerves in the last-over humdinger and lost by a slender margin of two wickets in a rain-truncated match.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi are the hosts for the matches. The teams are divided into two groups- Group A consisting of India, Pakistan and Hong Kong while Group B has Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. India are the defending champions of the event and yet again will be among the favourites.

Last time around, the event was played in the T20 format bearing in mind the World T20 in India that followed. September 19 will be the witness of the event’s marquee clash between India and Pakistan.  The opening match of the event will be played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dubai. The final is scheduled to be played on Friday, September 28 in Dubai.

An elite list altogether

In the meantime, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the commentary panel for the tournament. The likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan are most certain to grace their presence. From Sri Lanka, the likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Russel Arnold will be a part of the panel.

Brett Lee and Dean Jones are the commentators from Australia. Aamir Sohail and Ramiz Raza will represent Pakistan. Athar Ali Khan and Kevin Pietersen are the ones from Bangladesh and England respectively.
