India, the defending champions of the Asia Cup, will once again start as the favourites to win the competition this time around. There, however, are a lot of challenges as the senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not travel with the squad. There are still doubts over who will feature in the starting line-up, but despite all the confusion, the fans expect India to retain the title.

Team India starts their journey on the 28th of August as they take on their arch-rivals, Pakistan. They will then challenge the qualifying team on the 31st of August. The real party will start when and if India manages to qualify for the super four.

With the T20 World Cup just round the corner, this also is a golden chance for the team to finalise their squad before the tournament. Even though no one is quite sure about the combination India will go with, there are plenty of hopes for the team to lift the prestigious title for the eighth time. Here are three reasons why this can be a reality:

1. Aggressive brand of cricket

Ever since Rohit Sharma took over as the captain of the team, India changed their approach in T20 cricket. Scoring quick runs is their motto, and they have got positive results. Hence, they would continue playing the same brand of cricket.

Now that’s very dangerous if you are facing a team who fears nothing. The likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli can give a good start which the middle-order batters can take forward. Suryakumar Yadav is in brilliant form, and courtesy of his playing style, the Mumbai-born player is 2nd in ICC Men’s T20I rankings. Similarly, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, and Hardik Pandya can create huge pressure on the opponent if they gets going.

It is because of the IPL that all these players are habituated to playing such cricket. India are yet to lose a T20I series since the last T20 World Cup. This will definitely help the team gain momentum and confidence in the Asia Cup.
