A six from the bat of Ben Stokes sealed the win for England as they went ahead and secured a narrow 2-1 series win courtesy of a four-wicket win against Bangladesh in the third and final ODI at Chittagong. However, in spite of this, there were a few impressive performances from the Bangladeshi batsmen.

Mushfiqur Rahim, in particular, impressed apart from the likes of Tamim Iqbal. In what was yet another close encounter, we take a quick look at five of the most prominent talking points of the recently concluded ODI.

1. Openers get Bangladesh off to a flier:

As has been the narrative for the most part of the series, the Bangladesh openers got the team off to a flier. Imrul Kayes was at his solid best while the flashing blade of Tamim Iqbal smashed his way through to a fine 45. Sabbir Rahman also impressed as he smashed 49 only to be denied a half-century by Adil Rashid.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim plays a splendid knock:

Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the most integral parts of the Bangladesh batting unit. The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed his way to a wonderfully compiled 67, something that not only saw him dig his side out of trouble but also put Bangladesh’s total in somewhat of a safety zone, something England would have to fight to reach. He was assisted by Mosaddek Hossain who smashed a brilliant 38 towards the end of the innings.

3. Adil Rashid makes the ball do the talking:

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid has been roped into the side courtesy of his ability to turn the ball. This was backed up by the simple fact that the spinner was able to get a massive purchase from the wicket, something that is most certainly unprecedented. While the sticky wicket certainly did help, Rashid concluded with figures of 4/43 as the hosts did not get the 30-odd runs they required for a win.

4. Billings and Duckett wade into Bangladesh bowlers:

With Jason Roy out of the side, the onus fell on Sam Billings and Ben Duckett to get the the Brits off to a good start. However, not only did the duo get England off to a fine start but they also laid the foundation as well as the launch pad for the visitors to propel towards a well-deserved victory. The smashed 62 and 63 respectively.

5. Ben Stokes seals the win with a six:

Ben Stokes has been in the news for almost all the wrong reasons. Of course, he was hailed for the century in the first ODI, however, with some aggressive talk prior to the start of the game, it was interesting to see what Stokes would bring to the table. Apart from the wicket during his short bowling spell, the 25-year old smashed a quickfire 47, something that propelled England to an important victory. He also sealed the win with a massive six into the stands.
