All the excitement about the thirteenth game of the Big Bash League surrounds Cameron Bancroft. The 26-year-old, after the Sandpapergate incident, will be returning to mainstream cricket after a nine-month interval. Bancroft was included in the Perth Scorchers squad straightaway after he finished his ban period. He will be seeking redemption in the game against Hobart Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes have won all the three games they played in the tournament thus far. The team will be looking to continue the dominance at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston. On the other side, the Scorchers also seem to be positive with them registering their maiden victory of the tournament in their last game against Adelaide Strikers.
Pitch and Conditions
This is the first game of the season that is being played at Launceston in Tasmania. The ground will be the home of the Hurricanes for this match. The Aurora Stadium is a brand new venue and there haven’t been any games played here thus far. The first game at the venue will be played between Hobart Hurricanes Women and Brisbane Heat Women on 30 December 2018. Hence, the pitch at the venue is relatively unknown. The weather would be pleasant and there might not be any interruptions.
Hobart Hurricanes will wish to keep the winning combination going and thus might go with an unchanged XI for this match. Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short are in great form at the moment. Former Australian skipper George Bailey will have a crucial role to play in the middle order. The bowlers will want to come back strong after the disappointing outing in the previous match.
Predicted XI: Matthew Wade(w/c), D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Simon Milenko, James Faulkner, Johan Botha, Jofra Archer, Clive Rose, Riley Meredith, Alex Doolan.
The Perth Scorchers have had their share of troubles with the wicket-keeper. Both Sam Whiteman and Josh Inglish have failed to reach the expectations. Hence, Cameron Bancroft could be picked in the side as the wicket-keeper and he might well open the innings with Michael Klinger. There are a lot of all-rounders in the side and thus the Perth Scorchers have got a fair share of depth in their batting.
Predicted XI: Michael Klinger, Cameron Bancroft (wk), David Willey, Ashton Turner (C), Hilton Cartwright, Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jhye Richardson, William Bosisto, Jason Behrendroff.
