Hobart Hurricanes are determined to win the Big Bash League after ending the 2017-18 season as runners-up having lost to the Adelaide Strikers. The second best team of the previous edition began this season with four consecutive wins on the trot. This was the only third time they have won four consecutive matches in the BBL. The Hurricanes won each of their first four matches in the BBL and five in a succession, to begin with in 2018. In a bid to extend their winning streak to five, they will face Sydney Sixers at their home.

The Sixers have been inconsistent in this tournament so far on the pitches that have been on the slower side. They have only four individual fifties this season from five matches but only one from their top three – 57 by Moises Henriques in the last match. Their bowling has managed to exploit the slow surfaces that helped them to win three of the five games they played so far. Sixers have faced the Hurricanes twice since the start of 2016 and lost on both occasions.

Match Details:

The 19th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) will be played between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

The match starts at 7:15 PM local time (8:15 AM GMT) (1:45 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The short square boundaries at the Bellerive Oval neutralizes the nature of the pitch and also brings down the chances of bowling teams. The chasing sides won ten of the previous 13 Twenty20 matches at this venue and lost other three by margins of 7 runs, 5 runs and 1 run respectively.

Squads:

Hobart Hurricanes:

Matthew Wade (C), Jofra Archer, George Bailey, Johan Botha, Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, James Faulkner, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Simon Milenko, David Moody, Clive Rose, D’Arcy Short.

Power Picks:

Moises Henriques returned to form in the previous game with a fifty whereas Joe Denly has managed to aggregate 51 from five innings. The duo’s struggles increased due to the tracks used in the season and they might breathe free in Hobart.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

The opening pair of Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short will be the first choice for multiplier roles. The duo becomes dangerous if the Hurricanes get a chance to chase. Short bowling more overs compared to the past will make him an ideal choice as captain. The likes of Tom Curran and Moises Henriques will be perfect alternatives.

Expert Advice:

Picking Wade, Moises, McDermott, Short and Archer together might not leave enough credits to take Joe Denly. For that to work out, Jofra who had had two ordinary outings has to be excluded. However, there is the risk of ending up on the losing side if the Caribbean born runs through the Sixers.

Probable Winners:

The Hobart Hurricanes will start as the favourites in the game against Sydney Sixers which is expected to be dominated by the chasing team.
