BCB announces a huge reward for the Bangladesh squad

The Bangladesh cricketers are on cloud nine, and why not? They have beaten a full strength Australian side by 20 runs at their home in a thrilling manner. The BCB has declared TK 2crore reward for the entire squad and the support staff of the Bangladesh team, currently participating in the Test series against Australia. Apart from that, the board has also declared a reward of TK 4 crore for the Bangladesh team’s performance in the Champions Trophy.

Impressive performance

Th Tigers reached the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy earlier this year. They lost to India in the semis, but their strong performance earned them laurels. The Mushfiqur Rahim led side beat Steve Smith’s men square and fair after the No.1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scalped 10 wickets in the match, and also scored a vital 84 runs with the bat. Bangladesh have been a force to reckon with at home. They had earlier beaten Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England in a span of 12 months.

Hosts one up in the series

The home side will now look to push for a clean sweep against Australia. The visitors have not won a series in the sub-continent since 2011. If Bangladesh manages to beat Australia 2-0, then the Kangaroos will slip down to No.6 in the Test rankings. This will be a big blow to Steve Smith’s side before the important Ashes series against England, starting in November. The Australian skipper was dejected but spoke highly about the Bangladesh team.

Mushfiqur too was happy with the way team has put everything together. “The performance has been consistent. Our spinners – Taijul and Shakib – were brilliant. Tamim and Shakib partnership set it up for us. There is a lot of room for improvement. 150 runs and eight wickets to take today, the boys showed character. Hopefully, in the next Test, we will come harder and seal the series,” he said.
