Former Sri Lankan cricketer Thilan Samaraweera, who was appointed as the batting consultant of Bangladesh cricket prior to their home series against England last year, has now been shown the sacks. Although Samaraweera’s contract was extended a couple of times, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally decided to call it quits with the Lankan. The chairman of BCB operation Committee, Akram Khan confirmed this news.

After his successful stint in the series against England, the BCB extended Samaraweera’s contract to keep him with the side till Champions Trophy. However, the 40-year-old failed to live up to the expectations of the board and meet the targets assigned to him. It has also been revealed that some of the cricketers have voiced questions against him. Hence, the best alternative for the Bangladesh board was to opt for a change.

According to bdcrictime, Khan said, “Yes, We are no longer keeping Samaraweera. There were both positives and negatives opinion about him.”
