The Indian U19 team is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in July-August where they are slated to play a couple of four day matches followed by five one-dayers. The series is expected to bag quite a bit of limelight as Arjun Tendulkar, de facto the son of Sachin Tendulkar will take part in the tournament. This is his maiden U-19 call-up and will be walking in with expectations on his shoulders.

The schedule for the series has recently been announced as per reports in Zee News. The Indian team will arrive in the island nation on July 10 and will play a two-day warm-up match versus the Nondescripts Cricket Club grounds here on July 12 & 13. The opening four-day encounter will be played from July 16-19 at the Chilaw Marians Ground in Katunayake.

The next match will be staged from July 23-26 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. The One-Day series will commence from July 29 with a match at the P Sara Oval, which will be followed by a couple of matches at the Sinhalese Sports Club on August 1 and 4 respectively. The last couple of games will be played at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa on August 6 and 9.

An exciting series in store

The Indian U19 team has tasted quite a bit of success in the recent past. In February, they lifted the World Cup in New Zealand. During the tournament, Prithvi Shaw’s boys were clinical and brushed aside Australia to win the championship for the fourth time. They had Rahul Dravid as their coach, who did an exceptional job.

However, he won’t be there this time around as the former cricketer will be with the India A team who will tour England for four-day contests and a triangular series involving the England Lions and Windies A. WV Raman and Narendra Hirwani will take charge of the U19 team during their tour.
