The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is leaving no stone unturned in their bid to maintain transparency in the functioning of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 2017 edition of the IPL is all set to get underway in a couple of months and the board has issued a 19-page Request for Proposals guidelines for the interested parties. Over the years, the governing council of the IPL has been under the scanner for not being a transparent body.

The RFP has strict guidelines for the companies which will be staging the opening ceremonies of all the 8 franchises during their first match. This includes the closing ceremony of the IPL 2017, which is scheduled to be held at Hyderabad. BCCI has made it mandatory for all the interested parties to show an annual turnover of at least INR 30 crore. The interested parties must also be ready to pay 35 per cent ban guarantee. In addition to these, they should also not be having any criminal record.

The governing body for the IPL has been taken over by the Committee of Administrators (COA). The COA has laid stress on the transparency factor and this appears to be their first step towards the same. The BCCI has made it clear that it will hand over the contracts only to those companies which have expertise in Event Management field. Some of the guidelines mentioned in the 19 page RFP as per the post in OneIndia are as follows:

1. The successful interested party has to bear all costs of hosting 8 opening ceremonies (at the 8 venues) and closing ceremonies.

4. No person criminally convicted or being guilty of Conflict of interest should not be associated with interested parties.

5. Furnish details of any company or corporate entity related to interested party with its business ventures in Mauritius and British Virgin Islands.

6. Interested parties will be called for presentation at BCCI headquarters on March 1.

7. Interested parties invited will be given 45-minute time for video demonstration of their plans for the opening ceremony.

8. The announcement will be made on March 1.
