The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials will sit down for a meeting with Union sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Wednesday to decide on playing rivals Pakistan in the upcoming ICC Test Championship. BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhury had earlier said that the Indian board is trying its best to avoid Pakistan from the Future Tours Programme (FTP).

The government of India had earlier said that playing against Pakistan in India or in Pakistan is very difficult due to political tensions between the two neighboring countries. But there are no such order that has been put into effect while playing in ICC tournaments.

Aso per ICC’s FTP, each of the member countries should play with against each other at least once. Talking about the format, each team would play at least three home and away Test series respectively and members can negotiate on having more series between 2019-2021, depending on the availability.

Ignoring Pakistan will fail the purpose of Test Championship

According to DNA’s reports, ICC chairman Shashank Manohar had a word with COA chief Vinod Rai after understanding the current scenario. One of the main subject being ignoring Pakistan will damage the game overall. And the main purpose of ICC Test Championship will have no value.

It is believed that the COA is said to have approached BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and game development manager Ratnakar Shetty to check the word with Rathore. Aper the rules set by the ICC, if India fails to play Pakistan, then it will lose points in the tournament.

Earlier, Rathore spoke on the subject of doping and why the BCCI should trust NADA. “It is incumbent upon the BCCI to ensure that there is no cheating. I am glad cricket gets dope control done through an outside agency. But when all other federations in the country, and even bodies from outside the country, are trusting NADA, cricketers should also be able to do that.”
