Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s partnership, rather friendship, is one of the most special ones in the Indian cricket team. The relationship is based on warmth yet respect for each other. Dhoni has seen Kohli evolve and the latter has rarely shied away from giving credit to Captain Cool for learning a lot in his journey in International cricket so far.
Even before Kohli became as big a match-winner as he is now, Dhoni had no doubt that Kohli would go on to win more matches than he did. Kohli, for his part, went on to say that had learnt a lot from his predecessor and Dhoni will always be his captain, when MS Dhoni decided to step down as captain.
The two have batted together many times, and have guided India home together on various occasions. Today, while both of them were on the field, they showed their ‘bromance’ yet again at Wankhede. BCCI posted on Twitter, captioning, The Bromance #TeamIndia #INDvNZ
The Indian captain was seen plucking something out of MSD’s eyes during the break between the 30th and 31st over. Kohli approached Dhoni and lent a helping hand to his senior after he saw the 36-year-old rubbing his eyes.

India went to post a target of 280, which was well beyond the par-score of 250, on the Wankhede pitch. However, India saw some early dismissals with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walking back almost immediately. While Virat Kohli, playing his 200th ODI match, was steadying the ship, he failed to get a long-term support from Kedar Jadhav who came to bat at No. 4.
Dinesh Karthik in his comeback match formed a good partnership with Kohli but fell as soon as he found his rhythm. MS Dhoni looked promising but ended his 41-ball stay with 25 runs, becoming one of Trent Boult‘s four victims of the day. The rest of the batting line-up provided only meagre contributions but a cameo from Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped India’s cause.
