2017 has been jam-packed in terms of the amount of cricket being played, both domestic and international. The year has been a witness to several marvellous performances from players across the globe. From youngsters to veterans, several players have been able to make a mark during the year.

Meanwhile, there have been a number of newcomers who brought forth their brilliance and deservingly hogged the limelight. Subsequently, they have been rewarded appropriately by their respective teams and franchises. As we move ahead, we take a look at five of the brightest talents who emerged during the year.

5. Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali was drafted into the Pakistan limited-overs team during their tour of England in 2016 and immediately impressed with eight wickets in five games. However, the pacer’s breakthrough performances came during Pakistan’s tour of Australia in January 2017.

During the ODI series, he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets. Later this year, during the ICC Champions Trophy, he finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. He also became the highest-wicket taker of the recently concluded ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, he bagged the record for being the fastest Pakistani bowler to 50 ODI wickets. The Punjab-born pacer is currently the top-ranked bowler in ODI cricket. Recently, he also was rewarded with a spot in the Test team on the back of some scintillating performances.
