Pakistan’s Hasan Ali has signed for Hong Kong Island United for next year’s tournament. The no.1 fast bowler in limited overs cricket was earlier praised by the ICC for bowling one of the best deliveries of 2017. Hasan dismissed South Africa’s Wayne Parnell with a beauty in the champions trophy. He was one of the chief architects for Pakistan as they clinched the trophy at Lord’s earlier this year.

Hong Kong Island United announced the news on Twitter and wrote that they are proud of the fact that the number one bowler in limited overs cricket will be joining the United franchise. “We are proud to announce that the world’s number one limited overs bowler is joining Hong Kong Island United! He is officially a part of the United Family now. Welcome to HKI United [Hasan]!”

Franchise owners on Hasan

Amna T Naqvi, who is the owner of both Islamabad United and HKI United, said that Hasan is an exciting prospect.  “Hasan is an exciting prospect but he isn’t the only big name we are bringing in this year. Hong Kong Island United has a lot more to offer and you will find out soon why I say that.”

Amna’ husband backed the franchise and said “Our aim is to keep bringing in names that can help local talent develop. Last year we went for experience, this year we have gone for the youthful exuberance of Hasan. He can bring a new flavor to Hong Kong.”

Hasan, who had a great 2017, agreed to ICC’s choice and revealed that the wicket of Parnell is his favorite. “I think the delivery I bowled to Wayne Parnell in the Champions Trophy is certainly up there,” Hasan said when asked to nominate the best spell or delivery of 2017, while talking to ESPNcricinfo.  “I see all my spells equally since they all helped Pakistan. I think the Champions Trophy matches against South Africa, England and the final against India, I would rate them highly.” he had said.
