Team India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun, like Virat Kohli, has expressed his views similar to him on giving opportunities to young players. He also hinted at doing the same in the remaining two ODIs against Sri Lanka considering India has already won the series.

The coach also explained his understanding level with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as they have been working together since their days in Junior teams. He reflected on the kind of relationship he maintains with the players, having worked with them at different levels en route to the senior national team.

“I’ve known these boys for a long time and worked with them at different levels. So, be it they walking up to me to discuss their cricket or me walking up to them to speak my mind, it’s a different relationship altogether,” said the bowling coach.

We need to give opportunities to young talent

Arun echoed Kohli’s view of experimenting and giving opportunities to the new players to test their potential. Earlier, Kohli had also said the same about making the changes in the team and testing the bench strength. “There’s a need to experiment. Look at the talent around. How can we assume who’s capable of what, unless we spend time with them, give them opportunities,” he added.

India have already sealed the ODI series by taking an unassailable lead of 3-0 and the remaining two ODIs are literally the dead rubber. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Manish Pandey might be tested in the next One Day International at Colombo. Men in Blue are in

The Men in Blue are in a rich vein of form right now and are enjoying a happy space. They are scheduled to play one-off T20I to cap off the tour post which they will play a limited overs series against Australia at home to start another hectic season.
