Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is an ardent cricket follower and has voiced his opinions through social media on the gentleman’s game. Big B, as he is popularly known, has always supported the Indian cricket team and has stood up for them in tough times. He has also fired verbal volleys through his Twitter account during the course of the recently concluded Test series between India and Australia.

A number of ex-Australia cricketers have questioned Kohli’s absence from the final Test and were even questioning him performing the 12th man duties. Former Australia batsman Brad Hodge did not mince his words and accused the Indian captain of skipping the all-important Test match to possible get fit in time to play the IPL for his franchise RCB. Big B was quick to stand in support of Kohli as he rubbished Hodge’s statements and said that India were good enough to beat Australia even without Kohli participating.

His words turned out to be true as India indeed walloped past the Australians in the final Test at Dharamsala and subsequently won the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2-1.

Earlier in the series, the Australian media had called Kohli the Donald Trump of cricket. Amitabh was again stood in support with the Indian captain as he tweeted:

Virat Kohli had pulled out of the final Test owing to an external injury that he had incurred in the third test match. He was clear in stating that he would not participate in a Test match if he couldn’t give his 100%. Being the leader of the side that is what he expects from the other members of the team and he did not want to be bigger than the game and set a bad example.

He also said that he might miss the early part of the IPL as he will take a few weeks to be 100% again. The RCB star sets high fitness standards and there is no way he will go into a game situation without being able to give it his all.
