The Blue Blasters is one of the four teams taking part in the iB Cricket Super Over League. The team is led by former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and is a perfect blend of experience and youth. In a tournament where only the batsmen are for real and everything else will be virtual reality, the fans are sure to get a lot of delight.
Other than Sehwag, the Blue Blasters boast of the young sensation Shubman Gill. The team also has got Mohammad Kaif, who is considered to be one of the finest fielders India has produced. Even though the Blasters do not have the biggest and fiercest hitters of the cricket ball, they will look forward to making optimum use of the resources that they have.
The former cricketer was considered to be one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball during his playing days. Viru doesn’t bother who the opposition bowler is and enjoys taking them on, be it the best in the business. Sehwag has got this knack of picking up gaps easily and can clear the in-field even if he is half-asleep.
Moreover, he is someone who can hit those big sixes as per the demands of the situation. Virender Sehwag will face Brendon McCullum in the first ever game of the tournament. This battle between two former dashing and fearless batsmen should be a joy to watch. Sehwag, at no cost, will like to lose the game and will fancy hitting at least a boundary every ball.
ODI: Matches – 251 | Innings – 245 | Runs – 8273 | Average – 35.05 | Strike Rate – 104.33 | 6s- 136
T20: Matches – 159 | Innings – 157 | Runs – 4061 | Average – 26.89 | Strike Rate – 147.83 | 6s – 147
Shubman Gill is a raw, exciting talent with an oozing potential. The youngster even made his debut for Team India recently. Gill is technically very sound and has got all shots in his book. He has got this wonderful gift of timing and is great to watch when in full flow. The Punjab cricketer isn’t someone who will hit the big shots often and likes finding the gaps between the fielders.
It will be a U19 stars battle when Shubman takes on his mate Prithvi Shaw. Both these cricketers are regarded very highly and are expected to be the future of Indian cricket. Their super over match will test their temperaments and their ability to handle pressure situations.
ODI: Matches – 2 | Innings – 2 | Runs – 16 | Average – 8.00 | Strike Rate – 50.00 | 6s- 0
T20: Matches – 18 | Innings – 16 | Runs – 318 | Average – 31.80 | Strike Rate – 141.96 | 6s – 9
Regarded as one of the best fielders produced by India, Mohammad Kaif will have a huge task when he takes the field in iB cricket. Batting is the only job that the former cricketer will have to do and he will hope to come out all guns blazing. His innings at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in the Natwest Series final against England will remain etched in the memories of every cricket fan forever.
Kaif represented India in 138 international games and has got a good amount of experience. However, he isn’t someone who fancies hitting the big sixes and has only hit a handful of those during his playing days. But, he would like to change this notion when he plays VR cricket. The Indian cricketer will be playing against South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs.
