The ongoing edition of the popular Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has been a witness to some jaw-dropping encounters as most of the matches have gone down the wire. The first 14 matches were played at the renowned Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Now the T20 extravaganza has moved to the Sylhet International Stadium after the break of one day on Monday, January 14.

The one-off day yesterday also gave an opportunity to the BPL Governing Council to make some much-needed amendments to the championship. One of which is a change in the commentary personnel. Former Windies right-arm fast bowler Tino Best has ended his stint as a commentator in the BPL as he was roped in till former New Zealand cricketer and a popular face in the commentary box Danny Morrison was able to join the commentary panel.

In one of his initial stints as a commentator, Best was mostly seen with the microphone during the tosses. It will prove as a learning curve for the cricketer as he made a few mistakes on air with the names of the players as well as teams. In fact, in the inaugural match between Rangpur Riders and Chittagong Vikings, he addressed Riders’ skipper Mashrafe Mortaza as ‘Mushra Mortaza’.

Moreover, he called Mushfiqur Rahim, the Vikings, captain as ‘Mushika Rahim’. Furthermore, during the match between the Riders and Dhaka Dynamites, he forgot the name of Dhaka franchise and referred them as ‘Dhaka Riders’. Meanwhile, Morrison, who’s an experienced campaigner, in this field and has plied his trade in the T20 tournaments across the globe, is one of the most well-liked presenters.

Apart from Morrison, BPL can also see the introduction of former South African cricketer Daryll Cullinan along with Athar Ali Khan and Shamim Chowdhury.

As far as the team standings are concerned, the Dynamites, led by Shakib Al Hasan, are at the top of the table with eight points and is the only unbeaten team. The Mahmudullah-led Khulna Titans are yet to open their account with four losses.

*Clarification: An earlier version of the story based on a story from a local news portal mentioned that Tino was removed. However, the cricketer confirmed that he had a two weeks contract for the stint and the same has been updated in this report. CricTracker would like to apologise for the error.
