Back in 2016, the Indian cricket team also took a similar step.

Rajshahi Kings are one of the teams, which are yet to get their hands on the prestigious Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In a bid to turn their fortunes around, they appointed Mehidy Hasan Miraz as new skipper for the ongoing season. However, they have strained thus far in the T20 tournament and are precariously placed at the fifth position of the points table with two wins from five matches.
In the meantime, the team has resorted to a special gesture in their upcoming encounter against Shakib Al Hasan’s Dhaka Dynamites, scheduled to be played tomorrow at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Their players would be sporting their mothers’ name on the back of their jerseys while taking the field in the first of tomorrow’s doubleheader in Sylhet.
A heart-warming step from Rajshahi Kings
The franchise took to Twitter and uploaded a picture, which showed members of the Rajshahi fraternity, holding jerseys, displaying their mothers’ name. The club captioned the picture and wrote, “Rajshahi Kings are very proud to announce that they will bear their mother’s names in their jerseys in the match against Dhaka Dynamites at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.”

Here’s Mustafizur’s tweet appreciating the move
It's an honor to wear this special jersey with my mother name. First time I am going to be experienced this in my career. Such a nice gesture by @RKingsOfficial. Appreciate their approach! pic.twitter.com/pqRvHdOhiD

A similar step was taken by the Indian cricketers a couple of years ago. During the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand back in October 2016 at ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Indian players wore jerseys bearing their mothers’ name instead of their own names. The Men in Blue won that match by a mammoth 190 runs to win the deciding match and the series.
As far as the Kings are concerned, they started their campaign with a defeat against the Dynamites and have blown hot and cold thus far. They had a golden chance of beating Khulna Titans in Sylhet, but couldn’t track down a modest target of 129 on a wicket, which turned out to be difficult to bat on. The Dynamites are unbeaten and toppling them won’t be a walk in the park by any means.
